At 2Brothers Powersports we believe that riding a motorcycle is one of the best things in the world. If you have ridden, you get it. If you haven’t, we highly recommend that you give it a try. Not only does being on the open road give you a sense of true freedom, but you also get the wind, elements, smells, and an awareness of your surroundings that you just don’t get when you’re driving in your car.

Along with all the great things that come along with riding a motorcycle, we need to remember that motorcycles are smaller and are easy to miss by other motorists. Given this, we need to ride defensively and be ready for just about anything. Being an alert motorcyclist will also cause you to be a much better driver in your car as well since you’ll be more in tune with the road and everything around you.

Before you head out for your next ride, and while you are doing your walk around to check out your motorcycle, go through a mental checklist to make sure you are ready to ride too. It takes concentration, coordination, and a clear mind to be able to operate your motorcycle well. There is nothing wrong with calling off a ride if you’re not feeling well and aren’t ready to go. And remember, never drink and ride!

At the end of the day, we ride our motorcycle because of the thrill and enjoyment it brings. Make sure that your motorcycle, your gear, and you are ready to go. A refresher course is always a good idea top and they are offered here in our area. Check out the ABATE website at https://abatewis.org/programs/safe-rider/ to learn more about the programs and class schedules.

Enjoy the ride and stay safe out there.
