This month’s maintenance tip is all about Personal Watercraft. Now is the time when Sea-Doo’s start to come out of winter hibernation. Follow these quick tips and do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions. We are here to help!

Walk Around

Do a complete walk around of your Sea-Doo®.

  1. Check it over and make sure that it is in the same condition as when you put it away.
  2. Pop the seat off and look inside the hull. Make sure all the wiring looks in good shape, mice love to chew on electrical wires so check these over while here.
  3. Move the bars from side to side and make sure nothing is binding, check the throttle and make sure it moves freely and snaps back.
  4. Look at the back of the Sea-Doo and make sure the impeller area is clear.
  5. Lastly, look over the exterior and make sure it is free from scratches, dings, and deep scrapes. If these scrapes are deep enough water can penetrate the hull.

Battery Care

Hopefully, you took the battery out when your Sea-Doo was put away for storage. Make sure and put a full charge on the battery. If there is any issue, the battery charger should show you a fault. If you need it tested, we have a tester here at the shop in Onalaska, Wisconsin that will test the health of the battery. We are happy to do this for you anytime at no charge.

Make It Look Good

Sea-Doo makes some wonderful products for keeping your Sea-Doo looking its best. Sea-Doo’s brand of cleaners is XPS. There are many other products out there, but we have had good luck with the XPS brand.

XPS’s Hull Cleaner is great for waterline stains, algae, rust, mold, and other aquatic contaminants. Next step is the XPS wash and wax. Use this to give the boat a good final cleaning while adding a layer of wax at the same time. Finish up with the XPS quick detailer and your Sea-Doo will be looking great and protected from the elements.
